Commissioned artwork, in this context, is defined as an artist creating something at the client’s request. You may have a particular color preference about a subject, or a specific size requirement for the space. As an artist, I will sit down with you and/or your designer, in your space, and together we can determine the colors, the subject matter, the size, and of course, the budget to fulfill your needs. Quick sketches can be provided on the first consult to nail down ideas.
- Pricing varies according to canvas size and the level of detail that is requested.
- All canvas work is done in studio. (Sizes 5×5 to 60×72)
- Gallery Wrapped or Canvas Board
- Acrylic
- Oil
- Relief (Texture)
A more detailed sketch of the composition (For original compositions-with or without color): $200 – Requires research on the subject matter and composition, and the creation of the drawing.
Prices are reduced if painting from a client’s photograph.
Does not include framing.
Deadline fee possible for rush orders.
Normal turn around time is 2-4 weeks depending on level of detail.
Custom Pet Portraits
LET ME GIVE YOUR FURRY OR FEATHERY FAMILY MEMBER A PLACE ON THE FAMILY WALL
Please allow me to capture the personality of your pet either with paint or a little texture to really bring your pet’s portrait to life.
Email me your favorite picture of your pet and let me know what background colors you prefer with your décor. Choose a canvas size and before you know it, you will have your portrait. Turn around time is between 2-4 weeks depending on projects in process. I paint on a first come, first serve basis.
PRICE RANGE
Textural portraits: From $175 to $200
Acrylic on canvas: From $135 to $165
Framing is not included. You may choose between gallery wrapped canvas with a finished edge so you do not have to frame the portrait, or a canvas board which will require framing.

PRIVATE ART LESSONS
Private art lessons go in depth. You will learn about the tools, the medium, the substrate, color, light, and so much more. Let me know where you are in your artistic journey and I can take it from there. You learn at your own pace and most importantly, have fun.
Instruction pricing is based on an 8 week course, with one session per week. I provide 2 or 3 hour sessions. (More hours means more savings.) You are responsible for purchasing your canvas, easel, and supplies. I will provide you with a list of minimum items required for the sessions.
Adults over 18 range from $40 -$90 per session for acrylic or mixed medium.
Children’s pricing runs $20 per child for 1.5-2 hour sessions (siblings are an additional $10 ea.)
(Acrylic and mixed medium) Private parties and group rates are available for one time instruction. Pricing starts at $30 per person with discounts available for larger parties.
Student rates are available for homeschooling and after school programs.

Custom Designed Murals

A CUSTOM MURAL WILL PERSONALIZE YOUR SPACE.
Murals can encompass the entire room and fill it with fantasy, or bring out your favorite wall or niche to add some timeless elegance. Brighten up your child’s room with their favorite colors and themes.
Pricing is usually based on square footage. Artistic styles can range from $15/sq. ft., for simple or childlike designs, and up to $50/sq. ft. with high detail and/or bas relief. If you know what you want, that’s great. But if you don’t, I can help with that too with a couple of conversations.

LEVELS OF DETAIL
- ORNATE: The most time consuming to paint. Intricate/high detail and color are used to create an exquisite work of art.
- PHOTO-REALISTIC: Achieves a high level of detail and mostly created from specific photo references. They can be very stunning!
- PAINTERLY: Color richness of a photo, but shows distinct and deliberate brush strokes.
- ILLUSTRATIVE: Resembles an animation or storybook style. Can bring out depth and age in a composition.
- IMPRESSIONISTIC/ROUGH: Whimsical versions of the illustrative style but achieved with daubs of paint.
- SILHOUETTE AND CARTOON: Simplest and least time consuming using simple blocks of color.
THE GENERAL PROCESS
The mural process is usually more involved than the canvas work, however, some things can be pretty standard within either.
- First consultation is free. When first contacting me, either by phone or email, please be as specific as possible when describing your needs. Have images ready to send if you have them, description, style, color, etc., whatever you can.
- Deposit and sketches. After the initial consultation, a $200 non refundable retainer fee is required (Pertains only to art or mural work over $1000.) to initiate the design process. Should you decide not to proceed, this fee is not refundable. This fee will be deducted from the final payment due after completion of the mural or artwork. Open Window Creatives retains the rights to all sketches and drawings and such will remain in possession of Open Window Creatives.
- Approval and Contract. Pricing will be given at the time of sketch presentation and any options will be discussed at that time. If client approves of design and price, a 50% deposit will be required and a start date will be scheduled. Depending upon the time estimated for completion, deposits can differ, and progress payments may be required.
- Painting and creating your masterpiece. I always do my best to stay on the schedule I estimate. As God guides my hand and I connect with the homeowner, the art or mural will take on it’s own direction, it’s own perfection, color, placement, or whatever… YOU, the client, end up designing and developing the art with me!
